Overview
Lithium brine is classified as carbonate, sulfate or chloride type. The Mg/Li ratio, boron content and evaporation conditions determine whether precipitation, adsorption, membrane or solvent extraction is applied. Brine is usually traded as resource rights or long-term supply agreements rather than standard spot material.
- Li 200–1500 mg/L
- Mg/Li ratio 1–8 available
- Compatible with adsorption, membrane and precipitation routes
Technical data
| Item | Chloride type | Sulfate type |
|---|---|---|
| Li⁺ / mg·L⁻¹ | 300–1500 | 200–800 |
| Mg²⁺ / Li⁺ (mass ratio) | 3–8 | 1–4 |
| K⁺ / g·L⁻¹ | 2–6 | 3–8 |
| B / g·L⁻¹ | 0.3–2.0 | 0.2–1.0 |
| Cl⁻ / g·L⁻¹ | 150–200 | 60–120 |
| SO₄²⁻ / g·L⁻¹ | 5–15 | 20–40 |
| pH | 6–8 | 6–8 |
| Density / g·cm⁻³ | 1.18–1.25 | 1.12–1.20 |
Brine composition varies with extraction area and season; a complete water analysis is required before quotation and process design.
Reference standards
Standards and values are typical references. Supply is governed by the agreed technical protocol and the batch COA.
Main applications
Packaging and storage
Packaging
Pipeline, tanker or dedicated project transfer.
Storage
Lined ponds or tanks; avoid dilution by fresh water and evaporation losses.
